Tour dates announced

Gillett Entertainment Group and Zone3 are delighted to announce the first tour of new sensation Eva Avila. The fresh and talented 19-year-old singer used her confidence, charisma and powerful voice to win over millions of viewers and take the 2006 crown on the top rated smash reality TV show “Canadian Idol”.

The Gatineau native’s first single “Meant To Fly”, co-written by Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), has been #1 for 4 consecutive weeks on the BDS Quebec Charts. Eva and her full band will perform songs from her Sony/BMG Music debut “Somewhere Else”, which will be released on Tuesday, November 14.

The album contains 13 original songs including the soon-to-be released single "I Owe It All To You" and "This Kind Of Love" - which was written and produced by the legendary Cyndi Lauper.

Local Canadian Idol appearance

October 24, 2006 (Gatineau) – It will be a very special homecoming appearance for Gatineau’s newest celebrity entertainer Eva Avila. Les Galeries de Hull in collaboration with Sony BMG, CTV Ottawa and Énergie 104,1 are proud to welcome Eva, the 2006 Canadian Idol Winner, for a special autograph session this Thursday, October 24th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
It’s a unique opportunity for her thousands of local fans from Western Quebec and Eastern Ontario to meet with the young singer under a giant tent installed specifically for the occasion in the shopping centre’s St-Joseph Boulevard parking lot, near the East Side Mario’s restaurant.
Eva is the first artist from Québec to win the widely popular national television contest. These days she is living her dream more than ever. Her first single Meant to Fly, is in the Top 20 of the Énergie countdown and is just a taste of her first album to be released in November 14th.

Eva Added to Grey Cup Lineup

Eva Avila has been selected to sing the national anthem for this year’s Grey Cup on November 19 in Winnipeg at Canad Inns Stadium.

This will be the latest honour for the 19-year-old Gatineau, Quebec resident who has captured the hearts of Canadians with her powerful vocal style.

“I am so excited to perform at this year’s Grey Cup,” Avila said. “I know how much this game means to the country, and I can’t wait to get to Winnipeg!”

CFL Commissioner Tom Wright said the addition of Eva Avila is a great opportunity to showcase a rising, Canadian star.

“Eva Avila connected with Canadians on Canadian Idol, and performing the national anthem in a signature Canadian sports and cultural event such as the Grey Cup is a great thing for the Canadian Football League and for Eva,” Wright said. “We’re glad to have her talent showcased for the millions of viewers who annually watch the Grey Cup in Canada and around the world.”

Kevin Walters, the Grey Cup Festival’s Managing Director, welcomed Eva Avila’s participation in this year’s event.

“It’s great having a new up-and-coming talent such as Eva Avila singing the national anthem after making a name for herself on Canadian Idol,” Walters said. “It’s an honour for the Grey Cup Committee and it will be a treat for everyone attending the game in person and everyone watching it on television.”

The attractive brunette has also been signed to a contract by Ford Models.

This will be the third time the singer has performed the national anthem at a professional sporting event – after gracing the home rinks of both the Ottawa Senators and the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this year.
